Marshmallows For Breakfast – Dorothy Koomson
Almost immediately, she is thrust into the daily life of the single father and his adorable, yet feisty, six-year-old “Kendra Tamale is looking for a fresh start and a simple life when she rents a room from Kyle Gadsborough. The author’s skill at drawing the details of the characters in such a way that we could visualize and experience them had me hooked. With this book, however, it was hard sympathising with Kendra I feel bad giving two stars when I did think the story line was reasonably good and maybe deserved three.
The prologue was intentionally very misleading and I kept re-reading it throughout the book as I wondered when the incident would occur. I also loved the name, Tegan, or Tiga pronounced TEEgaas she is nicknamed, so much, that I decided that when I have a daughter, that will be her name. I feel bad giving two stars when I did think the story line was reasonably good and maybe deserved three. Notify me of follow-up comments by email. Good story concept, but bad characters.
One thing that annoyed me was the continual referring to the navy-green eyes of the children.

I picked up this book from the library as I had watched the TV dramatisation of Ice Cream Girls and found that story quite powerful.

Very unnatural dialog all the way through. I really enjoyed reading this book.

It’s a nice reading, but not the best one. It could have worked better if it was in the third person throughout but certain sections focused on one person only: I kept seeing this book in Target, but never bought it.

Please review your cart. I have been unable to really find a consistent link with the food and what actually happens in the section – I would be interested in whether other reviewers have been able to decipher this. I liked some aspects and not others.
I read this author’s previous book “My Friend’s Girl,” and rated it three stars, but this one was not as good. I suppose denial is one of the big themes in this story, and I appreciated how the author dealt with it. I felt the author really missed the mark with this one. Um livro que aborda dois temas fortes I enjoyed the early descriptions of her outfits but why did they disappear?
I just loved this book! No trivia or quizzes yet. I was bawling by the very end of the book. Kendra, Kyle, Gabrielle, Ashlyn, then maybe back to Kendra again. I loved it, and read it very quickly. I forced myself to complete this one, but I would not recommend it to others I guess I can “make my dodothy ending” by imagining what happened then after the last words, but still it’s only in my mind, which makes me think it isn’t en This book can be very powerful to some people.
