This book was required for an Introduction to Digital Design class I am currently about one third into the class kntroduction, and the book was only used for the homework. Justin Albano rated it really liked it Mar 09, As with the previous editions, this edition has a clear presentation of fundamentals and an exceptional collection of examples, solved problems and exercises.

Matthew Brest rated it did not like it Dec 10, Rather than explaining key concepts in an organized fashion and then providing examples that show how to apply the concepts, this book immediately delves into detailed examples and buries the explanation of key concepts in the examples.
The Table of Contents is well organized, but concepts within each chapter are disorganized and poorly explained. Take good notes in class, and think about the concepts enough, and you inttoduction find that you don’t need the book to do most of the problems.

There are a number of examples of the design of larger systems, both combinational and sequential, using medium scale integrated circuits and programmable logic devices.
Tried to use it to study for an exam or midterm, but consistently found myself struggling with the book due to a lack of relevant examples and unclear phrasing. An extensive set of examples-well integrated aln the body of the text and included at the end of each chapter in sections of solved problems-gives students multiple opportunities to understand the topics being presented. I’m thankful to those who wrote helpful and truthful comment about this book, which definitely encouraged me buy it.
